Canned Tomatoes

Kerr Farms’ tomatoes are grown in Chatham, Ontario using two different farming methods: Organic & Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Both products are Local Food Plus Certified, signifying that the tomatoes are locally grown using sustainable production methods.

Organic Canned Tomatoes – Available for Foodservice

• Kerr Farms’ deep red, organic Roma tomatoes burst with flavour and have been recognized for their superior fresh taste in head-to-head chef conducted cook-offs
• The tomatoes are carefully tended and grown on rich organic soil and are harvested when naturally ripe. They are washed, canned and cooked within hours. No preservatives or additives are used allowing only the natural flavours to come through.
• The growing popularity of organic food is undeniable. Kerr Farms tomatoes provide a great opportunity to add affordable organics to any menu, year round.

IPM Canned Tomatoes – Available for Foodservice

• The tomatoes ripen naturally on the vine and are harvested and canned on the same day, at the peak of maturity and colour. We use Integrated Pest Management (IPM) methods, which greatly reduces or eliminates the amount of pesticides used, allowing only the pure and natural flavours to come through. So, it can be said that IPM tomatoes fall between heavily sprayed conventional products and never sprayed organic tomatoes. This category is generally considered as transitional toward organic standards.
• Similar to Kerr Farms organic procedures, these tomatoes are grown on land which has been fertilized and re-mineralized to maintain the ideal balance of nutrients to support healthy crop growth and produce a tomato which is sweet and delicious.
